Have you checked out Ustream’s Viewer App for the iPhone? It’s a really cool way to catch Ustream shows while you’re on the go. However, the app has its downsides. Most notably, you can’t view all Ustream shows on the iPhone; it only includes specific channels that have been Ustream-approved and unfortunately from what I’ve seen, that doesn’t include a lot of artcasts.

Let’s change that.

It is a little-known fact that you can submit your show to be included on the Ustream Viewer app. You just have to send Ustream an email so they can review your show.

Here is the description of the process straight from Ustream’s website:

Finding shows on the iPhone

Ustream works hard to provide the highest-quality shows on the iPhone. Therefore Ustream shows appearing in the viewing application must meet the following criteria:

-not broadcasting nudity of any kind

-not broadcasting vulgar content

-not broadcasting content that you do not own the copyright to

-not broadcasting any illegal activities

-adhering Ustream’s Terms of Service

-adhering Apple’s iPhone Terms and Conditions

-having a show logo

-having at least 1 recorded video

If you feel that your stream meets this criteria, please email networks@ustream.tv with your username, a link to your stream, and a description of your average broadcast.

Here are some of my own notes on these guidelines:

  • Have your act together – completely fill out your Ustream profile page, have a good show logo and profile pic, and include a nice accurate description of your show’s content.

  • Record some of your shows. This is probably required by Ustream so they can can get an idea of what your typical show is like.

  • Don’t do anything illegal. (duh)

If your show meets all these requirements, I highly recommend you send Ustream an email. It adds that much more interactivity to your show, and it will make this iPhone-owning artcast fan very very happy.

And just so you know this process works, my own show – Dani Draws LIVE – is available to view on the iPhone.
